Winemakers must prepare for new wine labelling requirements.

SVS Print offers an effective solution in the form of electronic labels that will help you meet all regulations and simplify the entire process.

Smart Labels – víno a etiketa

You are now required to provide consumers with information on the composition and nutritional values of wine. This is a standard calorie table, similar to those on yoghurt packaging, supplemented by a detailed list of all product ingredients.

You have two options:

Etiketa s QR kódem
Etiketa s tabulkou výživových hodnot

A) Print the new mandatory information directly on the label

The nutritional values table and detailed wine composition take up a lot of space, which for most winemakers means a problem with insufficient space on the label.

B) Use a QR code on the label

A QR code directing consumers to a page with mandatory information is a practical and space-saving solution.

How does it work?

01) You provide us with the wine composition and analytical data, which we convert into energy values.

02) We create an online page with complete information and generate a QR code.

03) We print a label with a functional QR code that meets all new requirements.

For winemakers, new legislation takes effect from 8 December 2023. The good news is that this change applies only to wines produced after this date, i.e. those that will ferment after 8 December 2023.

2023 vintage wines therefore remain unaffected by the changes. All wines produced before the stated date may be labelled with original labels until stocks are sold out, with the exception of the following two cases:

1. Ice and straw wines from the 2023 vintage that ferment after 8 December 2023 must already comply with the new labelling requirements.

2. Sparkling and semi-sparkling wines from the 2023 vintage whose secondary fermentation takes place after this date are also subject to the new obligation to provide updated information.

The general obligation to state nutritional values and composition will fully apply to still wines from the 2024 vintage. The new information will therefore appear on their labels during 2025.
